One small fact is that I wrote a mobile web app for my local CAMRA Peterborough Beer festival, which is actually the biggest out-door beer festival in the UK, and pretty much 2nd or 3rd biggest in the country full stop!
As the original mobile app was getting a bit long in the tooth (it was written in 2012), I’ve completely re-written it in a new framework so it SHOULD look much better, and more importantly, the same, across all devices and web browsers.
It’s in the same place; http://beerfest.kristianbrown.co.uk/app/, and is now loaded up with all the up to date beers for the 2015 festival. It’s currently in testing phase, so the beers may come and go as I re-load the data from CAMRA as it’s updated, but once we are within a week of the festival (which starts on the 25th Aug)
- Wine list
- Show new breweries
- Show festival specials
- Singles bar beers
- LocAle bar beers
- Location of all beers
The beer categories on the cask beers are my own, so may be a little out, or not CAMRA standard… but hey they are there for a guide for you the drinkers!
The app is actually just a mobile website, so you can view on your PC / MAC browser, or on ANY device, be that Apple / Blackberry / Android… tablet or phone.
If you are going to use the “wishlist” function to pre-create target beers before you go, make sure you do it on the phone/device you will be taking with you, as it remembers the list against the device!
Voting is still there, so you can be part of the public un-official scoring of the beers, to find the beer drinkers favourites of the festival.
E-mail yourself the link; beerfest.kristianbrown.co.uk/app/ and paste into your phone browser, bookmark and away you go!
